NITI Aayog Governing Council Charts Roadmap for Viksit Bharat 2047: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog on June 11, 2026, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, New Delhi. The meeting was based on the theme “Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat@2047” and witnessed participation from Chief Ministers of all 28 States, along with Lieutenant Governors and Administrators of five Union Territories.

The meeting emphasized strengthening coordination between the Centre and States to accelerate India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The Prime Minister stressed that the vision of Viksit Bharat can be achieved only through cooperative federalism, where every state, district, block, and village contributes to national development.

He encouraged states to adopt global best practices, particularly in renewable energy, governance reforms, and public service delivery. Strong Centre-State cooperation was highlighted as a key driver of inclusive growth.

States were urged to invest in quality education, skill development, capacity building, and future-ready employment opportunities. These measures are expected to convert India’s demographic dividend into a long-term development dividend.

Trade, Investment and Emerging Technologies

The meeting highlighted the opportunities created by India’s recent Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). States were encouraged to attract foreign investment, promote export-oriented industries, and create business-friendly ecosystems.

The Prime Minister also identified Artificial Intelligence, Data Centres, Defence Manufacturing, and advanced technologies as major engines of future economic growth. States were advised to prepare a skilled workforce capable of meeting emerging technological demands.

Strengthening ODOP and Women-Led Development

The Prime Minister called for wider implementation of the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative to promote unique local products and enhance exports.

He also reiterated the government’s commitment to women-led development, urging states to increase the number of Lakhpati Didis from 3 crore to 6 crore while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for women’s economic participation.

Addressing Social Challenges

The meeting also focused on emerging challenges such as drug abuse, cyber fraud, and digital crimes. The Prime Minister emphasized preventive governance, public awareness campaigns, and stronger institutional mechanisms to tackle these issues effectively.

These discussions reflected the government’s broader approach of combining economic growth with social security, digital resilience, and inclusive governance.
