Tamil Nadu Unveils Annapoorani Super Six LPG Support Scheme: The Tamil Nadu government has introduced the Annapoorani Super Six LPG Scheme to reduce the financial burden of domestic cooking gas on eligible families. The scheme was announced in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on August 24, 2026.
Under the initiative, beneficiaries will purchase domestic LPG cylinders and subsequently receive the eligible amount as reimbursement directly into their bank accounts.
Reimbursement Through Direct Benefit Transfer
Unlike schemes that provide benefits at the point of purchase, Annapoorani Super Six follows a reimbursement-based model. The beneficiary first purchases the LPG cylinder, after which the assistance is transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
This mechanism is intended to ensure that financial support reaches eligible households directly while using the state’s existing welfare and public distribution infrastructure.

The Annapoorani Super Six LPG Scheme is scheduled to commence on Pongal Day in January 2027.
