NSG Expands Women’s Role in Counter Terror Operations: The National Security Guard (NSG) has launched its first-ever Mahila Commando Conversion Course (MCCC) at the NSG Training Academy in Manesar, Haryana.

The initiative is designed to develop specialised capabilities among women personnel for demanding counter-terrorism operations. The programme marks an important expansion of women’s participation in specialised national security roles.

Twelve Week Specialised Training

The MCCC is structured as a 12-week training programme for carefully selected women personnel. The course combines physical conditioning with technical and tactical instruction required for specialised security operations.

Participants will undergo training in physical fitness, endurance, weapon handling, marksmanship, tactical intervention and hostage rescue. The programme is intended to strengthen both operational skills and decision-making capabilities.

Participants from Police and CAPFs

The inaugural course is open to selected women personnel from State Police Forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

After completing the course, the trained personnel will return to their respective organisations. Their specialised knowledge can subsequently contribute to strengthening counter-terrorism capabilities within their parent forces.

This model can also promote greater interoperability and coordination between different security organisations.

Building Specialist Women Commandos

The programme focuses on creating a larger pool of women personnel capable of undertaking specialised security responsibilities.

Training in areas such as marksman skills, tactical intervention and hostage rescue is intended to equip participants for complex operational environments. The initiative therefore goes beyond increasing representation and emphasises the development of specialised professional capabilities.

Strengthening Counter Terrorism Preparedness

Counter-terrorism operations require personnel with high levels of physical fitness, tactical awareness, coordination and specialised training. The MCCC provides a structured pathway for women personnel from different security forces to acquire these capabilities.

The initiative can also help establish common operational standards and improve cooperation between the NSG, State Police Forces and CAPFs.
