Ministry of Tribal Affairs Launches TribeX: India’s First Digital Platform for Tribal Arts and Culture: The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched TribeX, India’s first dedicated digital learning platform for tribal arts, culture, languages, and traditional knowledge. The platform was inaugurated by Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram on 7 July 2026 during the National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
TribeX integrates education, documentation, research, and skill development into a single digital ecosystem aimed at preserving and promoting India’s rich tribal heritage.

The platform was launched during the National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Free Certificate Courses
At launch, TribeX offers 20 free certificate courses covering:
- Tribal paintings
- Handicrafts
- Handloom traditions

The Ministry plans to expand the platform to over 100 certificate courses, making it one of India’s largest digital repositories for tribal learning.
UGC-Recognised One-Year Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
TribeX also offers five UGC-recognised hybrid postgraduate diploma programmes:
- Tribal Language: Santali (Ol Chiki)
- Sustainable Tribal Culture-Based Livelihood Practices
- Museology and Tribal Museum Management
- Tribal Arts and Crafts of India
- Tribal Textiles
Each programme includes:
- Expert lectures
- Practical internships
- Dissertation work
These programmes aim to combine academic learning with practical exposure while improving employability.
Partnership with Sampurnanand Sanskrit University
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi.
Under this collaboration, the university will:
- Support delivery of postgraduate diploma programmes.
- Ensure academic quality.
- Provide academic recognition for learners.
Significance of TribeX
TribeX is a landmark initiative that leverages digital technology to preserve India’s tribal heritage while expanding educational access. By offering free certificate courses and recognised diploma programmes, it promotes cultural preservation, research, and employment opportunities, ensuring that traditional tribal knowledge reaches future generations.
