Maharashtra Accelerates Digital Legislature Through NeVA: The Government of Maharashtra has initiated steps to implement the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) to digitise the functioning of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. The initiative is being implemented under the Digital India Programme with the vision of “One Nation, One Application.”
The project aims to modernise legislative proceedings by replacing paper-based processes with a unified digital platform, improving efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.

High-Level Meeting Speeds Up Implementation
A high-level review meeting was held at Vidhan Bhawan, Mumbai, to accelerate the implementation of NeVA in Maharashtra.
The meeting was attended by officials from:
- Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs
- Department of Parliamentary Affairs, Maharashtra
- Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat
The departments agreed to complete the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) required for the implementation of the project.
What Is the National e-Vidhan Application
The National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) is a Mission Mode Project of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs under the Digital India Programme.
It aims to digitise the functioning of all 37 State and Union Territory Legislatures through a common digital platform.
NeVA enables legislators to conduct legislative business electronically, including accessing documents, bills, questions, notices, agendas, and proceedings without relying on paper.
Project Cost and Financial Outlay
The National e-Vidhan Application has a total approved outlay of ₹673.94 crore.
In Maharashtra, the project is expected to cost approximately ₹48 crore and will cover:
- Maharashtra Legislative Assembly
- Maharashtra Legislative Council
- Mumbai Legislature Complex
- Nagpur Legislature Complex
The funding will support digital infrastructure, software deployment, training, and capacity building.
