India’s Family Enterprises Reach New Heights in Hurun 2026 Ranking: The Barclays Private Clients Hurun India Most Valuable Family Business List 2026 highlights the growing economic influence of India’s family-owned business groups. The 300 most valuable family businesses together recorded a valuation of around ₹138 lakh crore ($1.46 trillion).
Their combined value has increased by nearly ₹30 lakh crore over the past two years, representing a 27.5% rise compared with 2024. The report estimates that these businesses added approximately ₹4,076 crore in value every day during the period considered.

Ambani Family Leads
The Ambani family secured the first position with a business valuation of ₹25,82,800 crore. The family’s principal business association is Reliance Industries, which has interests spanning energy, telecommunications, retail, financial services, media and entertainment, consumer products and logistics.
The Ambani family’s valuation is more than three times that of the second-ranked family, demonstrating the significant scale of its business empire.
Birla Family Takes Second
The Birla family occupied the second position with the Aditya Birla Group valued at ₹8,13,700 crore. Its businesses cover sectors such as metals and mining, cement, financial services, real estate, textiles, retail, telecommunications, jewellery and entertainment.
The ranking illustrates the continued importance of diversified family-owned conglomerates in India’s corporate economy.
Jindal and Bajaj Families
The Jindal family ranked third with ₹8,01,800 crore, with JSW Steel serving as its prominent business association.
The Bajaj family secured fourth position at ₹7,70,400 crore. The Mahindra family completed the top five with a valuation of ₹5,14,600 crore, associated with Mahindra & Mahindra.

Other Major Family Businesses
The Anil Agarwal family ranked sixth with Vedanta, valued at ₹4,45,500 crore. The group has significant interests in natural resources and industrial businesses.
The Murugappa family ranked seventh at ₹3,06,000 crore, followed by the Nadar family at ₹2,91,300 crore, associated with HCL Technologies.
The Premji family, associated with Wipro, stood ninth with ₹2,72,300 crore. The Dani, Choksi and Vakil families, linked with Asian Paints, completed the top 10 at ₹2,48,200 crore.
