India Retains Asian Games Kabaddi Crown in Aichi Nagoya: India secured the men’s kabaddi gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, defeating Iran 40-34 in the final on 26 September 2026. The victory enabled India to retain the continental title won at Hangzhou 2022.
The final brought together two of Asia’s leading kabaddi teams. Iran had defeated India for the gold at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, but India subsequently reclaimed the title at Hangzhou and successfully defended it in Aichi-Nagoya.
India Turns the Match Around
Iran started strongly and held the advantage during the opening phase. India, however, finished the first half ahead 18-17, creating the platform for a decisive second-half performance.
India strengthened its defence after the interval, using super tackles and an all-out to extend the lead. The disciplined defensive display helped India maintain control before completing a 40-34 victory.

India returned to the top at Hangzhou 2022, which was held in 2023, and then retained the championship at Aichi-Nagoya in 2026.
