Guntur Municipal Corporation Wins UNIDO GEM Award: The Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) received the prestigious UNIDO GEM Award in Vienna during the International Day of Women in Industry 2026 celebrations. This global recognition highlights GMC’s innovative approach in integrating women empowerment with sustainable urban waste management.

Women Led Waste Initiative
GMC implemented a unique model by deploying over 200 women as drivers of electric autos for door-to-door garbage collection. These women were previously part of the informal waste sector and were brought into formal employment through structured training.
