The scientific findings challenge the long-held belief that the banyan tree was planted near the historic Burra Bunglow, a structure believed to date back only 300–350 years.

The research confirms that the tree existed several centuries before the construction of the building. Scientists believe it was originally part of a natural forest that once covered the region and has witnessed numerous historical developments over the last seven centuries.
