Nilgiri Tahr Survey 2026: The Government of Tamil Nadu conducted the third synchronized survey of Nilgiri Tahr in 2026 under Project Nilgiri Tahr. This large-scale exercise focuses on assessing the population of the state animal of Tamil Nadu, which is an endangered mountain ungulate.
