Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: Transforming Travel Hubs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) through a virtual platform, marking the initiation of a comprehensive rejuvenation endeavor encompassing 13 key railway stations nationwide. ABSS, an ambitious project, seeks to metamorphose 1,309 railway stations across India into world-class travel hubs. The infusion of ₹25,000 crore into this initiative has set the wheels in motion, with 508 stations already undergoing enhancements. In the state, a notable investment of ₹303 crore has been allocated to modernize 13 railway stations, promising an elevated passenger experience.

 

Anti-dumping Duty on Optical Fibre Imports

India has taken a significant step in safeguarding its domestic optical fiber industry by imposing anti-dumping duties on Dispersion Unshifted Single-Mode Optical Fiber (SMOF) imports from China, South Korea, and Indonesia. The move comes in response to the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) findings, which underscored the adverse effects of subpar and inexpensive imports on the indigenous sector. The Finance Ministry's resolute stance aims to curb the influx of these imports and bolster the domestic optical fiber industry.
