Major announcements at the summit

Tamil Nadu Strengthens Global Tourism Vision: The Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit 2026 held in Chennai marked a major step toward positioning the State as a global tourism hub. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the prestigious Tamil Biennale 2027 will be organized in January 2027, promoting Tamil culture, heritage, and arts internationally.

The Biennale aims to attract global artists, tourists, and cultural organizations. It will enhance Tamil Nadu’s reputation as a center for cultural diplomacy and creative tourism.

Role of Tourism Policy 2023 and SIPCOT

Under the Tamil Nadu Tourism Policy 2023, the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) will identify and develop tourist locations. Priority districts include Kanniyakumari, Kallakurichi, Erode, and Thoothukudi.

SIPCOT traditionally focuses on industrial development but is now expanding into tourism infrastructure to attract private investments.
