Establishment of TANSHA
Tamil Nadu State Highways Authority: The Tamil Nadu State Highways Authority (TANSHA) was formally established in 2024 by the state government. On September 19, 2025, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu inaugurated the authority in Chennai. During the event, the Chief Minister also unveiled the official logo of the authority.
Purpose of the Authority
TANSHA has been created to accelerate road infrastructure development across Tamil Nadu. It will act as the central body for planning and executing major projects. The authority will focus on improving connectivity through four lane corridors and expressways, providing world-class transport facilities within the state.
Public Private Partnership Model
The state government has structured TANSHA to work under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. This approach allows private sector investment and expertise to complement state resources. The model aims to ensure faster completion of projects and cost efficiency in road development.
