This app lets you block lost phones, verify handset authenticity, and report fraud, all in one place. Available on Android and iOS, it targets over 90 crore smartphone users, ensuring safer mobile experiences.
Bridging the Rural Digital Divide
The National Broadband Mission (NBM) 2.0 is another bold step forward. It builds on the earlier mission, which laid down fibre optic cables and helped broadband users grow to 941 million. Now, NBM 2.0 plans to bring 100 Mbps internet speed to 1.7 lakh villages by 2030.
Think about students in a remote school trying to attend online classes or farmers needing weather updates. With reliable internet, their lives change for the better. NBM 2.0 also promises to connect 90% of rural institutions like schools and hospitals, making essential services more effective.
Stronger Signals in Remote Corners
Another exciting move is the Intra Circle Roaming (ICR) initiative. Earlier, some rural areas had poor signals or even no network. Now, thanks to partnerships between BSNL, Airtel, and Reliance, telecom towers funded under the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) will be shared.
This helps connect 35,400 villages, providing 4G access without every company needing to set up separate towers. It’s a smart, cost-saving approach that also improves service quality for people in far-off regions.
Tackling Online Threats with Technology
Security is just as important as speed. The government has made big progress in cleaning up the telecom space. The Sanchar Saathi program has already disconnected 2.75 crore fake connections and helped recover over 25 lakh stolen phones. A special tool was also created to block 90% of spoofed international calls, reducing fraud and scams.
These efforts show how serious the government is about making telecom safe and trustworthy for everyone.
