Nine Indian states will participate to highlight investment-friendly policies and opportunities in electronics manufacturing. The Workforce Development Pavilion is designed to inspire students and professionals toward careers in semiconductor design, fabrication, and VLSI engineering.
Static GK Tip: India produces the second-largest pool of engineers in the world, making it a strong candidate for semiconductor industry growth.
About SEMICON India
SEMICON India is part of the global SEMI® series of technology exhibitions, organized across major innovation hubs worldwide. It brings together academia, policymakers, and global companies under one platform to discuss future roadmaps for the semiconductor ecosystem.
The programme is backed by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), functioning under the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY). ISM implements the Semicon India Programme, introduced in 2021 with a financial package of ₹76,000 crore, to strengthen domestic chip and display manufacturing.
Static GK fact: The integrated circuit (IC) was independently invented in 1958 by Jack Kilby and in 1959 by Robert Noyce.
Importance for India
The event highlights India’s ambition to become a trusted global partner in chip manufacturing. With demand rising across sectors such as AI, electric vehicles, 5G technology, and the Internet of Things, SEMICON India 2025 will be a platform for India to showcase its readiness to be a semiconductor powerhouse.
