Record Defence Export Growth
Rising Momentum of Defence Exports in FY 2024-25: India’s defence exports touched ₹23,622 crore (~$2.76 billion) in FY 2024-25, marking the highest-ever achievement in this sector. This was a 12.04% increase compared to ₹21,083 crore recorded in FY 2023-24.
Over the past decade, defence exports have witnessed exponential growth, rising from just ₹686 crore in 2013-14 to the present figure, representing a 34-fold increase.

Contribution of Private Sector and DPSUs
The private sector played a crucial role, accounting for ₹15,233 crore of the exports in FY 2024-25. Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) contributed ₹8,389 crore, reflecting a 42.85% growth over the previous year.
The combined push from private players and DPSUs highlights India’s growing capabilities in both large-scale defence systems and smaller high-technology exports.

Expanding Global Reach
India now exports defence equipment to nearly 80 countries, strengthening its role as a reliable supplier in the global defence market. Products range from light combat aircraft, radars, and missiles to maritime systems and protective equipment.
The government has set a target of ₹50,000 crore defence exports by 2029, aligned with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Increase in Authorisations and Exporters
In FY 2024-25, a total of 1,762 export authorisations were issued, up 16.92% compared to 1,507 in the previous year. This shows improved ease of doing business in defence exports.
Additionally, the number of registered defence exporters rose by 17.4%, reflecting growing industry participation.
