New Panels for Development Goals
Rajiv Gauba Panels Drive Next Generation Reforms for Viksit Bharat: The Centre has constituted two high-level panels under the leadership of Rajiv Gauba, full-time member of NITI Aayog and former Cabinet Secretary. These committees aim to accelerate Viksit Bharat Vision 2047 and ensure effective execution of next-generation reforms.
One committee is tasked with long-term policies to achieve developed nation status by 2047, while the other is dedicated to non-financial regulatory reforms to simplify frameworks and enhance competitiveness.
Static GK fact: NITI Aayog was established in 2015, replacing the Planning Commission.
Coordinated Governance Structure
The Gauba-led panels are designed to work in sync with ministerial panels chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. This ensures high-level political oversight and rapid decision-making.
Additionally, a state-level deregulation panel has been set up under Cabinet Secretary TVS Swaminathan, aimed at addressing bottlenecks in the federal structure.
Static GK fact: India follows a quasi-federal governance system with a strong unitary bias.
Inclusive Committee Composition
The panels are a mix of policymakers and private sector leaders. Secretaries from ministries such as DPIIT, Expenditure, MSME, and Power are part of the framework.
Prominent industry experts like Pawan Goenka, Manish Sabharwal, and Janmejay Sinha (BCG India Chairperson) are included, along with Director Generals of CII, FICCI, and Assocham. This balanced composition ensures administrative depth combined with private sector innovation.
Static GK fact: CII was founded in 1895, making it one of India’s oldest industry associations.
Background of Viksit Bharat Vision
The creation of these panels follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day 2025 address, where he stressed the need for structural reforms and future-ready policies.
The Viksit Bharat vision includes making India a $5 trillion economy, enhancing governance efficiency, boosting industrial innovation, expanding digital infrastructure, and strengthening centre-state cooperation.
Static GK Tip: India became the world’s fifth-largest economy in 2022, overtaking the UK.
Road Ahead for Policy Reforms
These committees are expected to provide concrete recommendations to remove regulatory hurdles, encourage investment, and build institutional capacity. With both political leadership and expert inputs, the panels mark a shift towards faster reform-driven governance.
The dual focus on federal coordination and industry participation indicates the government’s intent to ensure ease of doing business, policy clarity, and inclusive economic growth.
