A new bridge for near-successful aspirants
Pratibha Setu by UPSC Connects Deserving Aspirants with Employers: Not every UPSC aspirant who clears the mains and interview makes it to the final list. But that doesn’t mean their journey must end there. With Pratibha Setu, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is opening a fresh route for such talented individuals. This initiative aims to ensure that their hard work and potential don’t go unnoticed, offering them a platform to get connected with both government and private sector employers.
Upgraded from earlier disclosure system
Earlier, under the Public Disclosure Scheme, the UPSC published names of candidates who gave consent to share their details. It was a static list on their official website. While helpful, it didn’t actively connect candidates with employers. Now, with Pratibha Setu, this process has been transformed into a more dynamic, secure, and interactive platform.
How the platform works?
Pratibha Setu is essentially a login-based system. Here, verified employers—from ministries to private firms—can access profiles of candidates who cleared all UPSC stages but just missed the final cut. Importantly, this is voluntary. Only those who opt-in will be visible. It provides an organized space where meritorious candidates meet potential recruiters, beyond the realm of civil services.
Who benefits and how?
Candidates who put years into UPSC preparation often feel disheartened when they fall short by a few marks. With Pratibha Setu, these individuals still get to showcase their filtered skills and knowledge. On the other hand, companies and institutions get access to a high-calibre talent pool already vetted through one of the toughest exams in India. This fosters a public-private collaboration that values India’s human capital.
A win-win approach
The move is seen as both strategic and humane. It ensures that intellectual potential does not go to waste. It also supports the creation of a national talent pipeline across sectors. Candidates who have been filtered through UPSC are known for discipline, knowledge, and analytical thinking—qualities that any job market needs.
Static GK Note: The UPSC was established under Article 315 of the Constitution and is headquartered in New Delhi. It is one of the key recruiting agencies for India’s central services.
