Overview of the Initiative
PM VIKAS MoU with IIT Palakkad for Minority Skilling: In October 2025, the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, launched a key skilling initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) scheme. The project aims to empower minority communities in Kerala by providing advanced technical skills in emerging sectors. Objectives of PM VIKAS

Training Programme Details
The programme will train 400 candidates from minority communities in Kerala. Fields of training include Junior Chip Designing, Embedded Software Engineering, and Junior Engineering in Drone Research and Development. Specifically, 150 trainees will be skilled as Junior Chip Designers, 150 as Embedded Software Engineers, and 100 as Junior Engineers in Drone R&D. Trainees will receive full funding and stipends from the Ministry.
Implementation and Support
IIT Palakkad will implement the training and provide placement support for both employment and self-employment. The institute focuses on innovation, incubation, and technology-driven capacity building.
