Noida International Airport Boosts India Aviation Network: The Noida International Airport at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh was inaugurated on March 28, 2026 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It marks the completion of Phase I of one of India’s largest greenfield airport projects.
The airport will function alongside Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi, creating a dual-airport system. This will significantly reduce congestion and improve air traffic management in the Delhi-NCR region.

Investment and Development Model
The project has been developed with an investment of approximately ₹11,200 crore under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. It is executed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG.
The concession period spans 40 years, starting from October 1, 2021. The airport has received an aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), enabling public use and all-weather operations.
Capacity and Key Features
Phase I of the airport is designed to handle 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA). Upon full expansion, it can scale up to 70 MPPA, making it one of India’s largest aviation hubs.
Key infrastructure features include a 3,900-meter runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft. It also includes Instrument Landing System (ILS), modern lighting systems, and advanced navigation technologies.
These features ensure round-the-clock operations and high operational efficiency.
Sustainability and Design Vision
The airport is planned as a net-zero emissions facility, integrating renewable energy and energy-efficient systems. This aligns with India’s climate commitments and sustainable development goals.
Its architectural design reflects Indian heritage, inspired by elements such as ghats and havelis. This creates a blend of cultural identity with modern infrastructure.
