National Film Awards 2025 Celebration in New Delhi: The 71st National Film Awards ceremony took place on September 23, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The most prestigious honour of the evening was the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2023) presented to Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. The Best Feature Film award went to 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film is based on the inspiring life of IAS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and highlights the resilience of aspirants from humble backgrounds. Its realistic storytelling struck a chord with both audiences and critics.

Recognition for Hindi Cinema

The award for Best Hindi Film was given to Kathal – A Jackfruit Mystery, a satirical comedy starring Sanya Malhotra. The choice underscored the rise of unconventional cinema in mainstream storytelling.

Acting Excellence

The Best Actor award was shared between Shah Rukh Khan for his dual role in Jawan and Vikrant Massey for his portrayal in 12th Fail. Their recognition reflected the diversity of performances in 2023.
