Campaign Overview
Mission Shakti 5.0: Uttar Pradesh launched Mission Shakti 5.0 on 22 September 2025, coinciding with Sharadiya Navratri. The month-long initiative focuses on enhancing women’s safety, dignity, and empowerment. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized strong interdepartmental coordination and active police presence to ensure effective implementation.

Enhanced Policing
The campaign strengthens police visibility through increased foot patrols and activation of PRV-112 vehicles. Senior officers conduct field visits, join patrols, and engage with local communities. The women’s helpline 1090 remains fully operational to address grievances promptly.

Role of Women Police Force
A total of 44,177 women police personnel are deployed across 57,000 village panchayats and 14,000 urban wards. Officers educate women about legal rights and government welfare schemes. Special deployment in public places and festivals strengthens the Anti-Romeo Squad, ensuring safety and order.
Awareness and Legal Support
Short films on gender equality, legal rights, and women’s safety are screened in schools and colleges. Legal aid is extended to women in jails, while Pink Booths in municipal corporations provide comprehensive support services. Community-based programmes at the district level promote women’s welfare and engagement.
Strict Action Against Offenders
The Anti-Romeo Squad is empowered to act decisively against offenders while maintaining sensitivity. Fast-tracked trials and strengthened legal aid accelerate justice in cases involving women. Zero-tolerance for crimes against women is a hallmark of Mission Shakti.
Previous Phase Achievements
Earlier phases reached over 2.03 crore women through 3.44 lakh programmes. More than 27,000 women police personnel were deployed. Operations targeted cybercrime, child rescue, drug offences, and illegal activities, resulting in thousands of arrests. The UP model is being replicated nationally, including initiatives like Women Helpline 1090 and Pink Booths.

Performance Metrics
Uttar Pradesh leads India with a 98.80% case disposal rate on the ITSSO portal. Proactive policing and community engagement significantly contribute to this efficiency.
