New project to fuel regional IT growth

Mini TIDEL Park set to transform Tiruvannamalai IT landscape: The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has virtually laid the foundation stone for a Mini TIDEL Park in Tiruvannamalai, marking a significant milestone in the state’s decentralised IT expansion strategy.

This new park will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹37 crore, aimed at creating employment and attracting startups in Tier II and III towns.

Expanding digital infrastructure beyond metros

Mini TIDEL Parks are designed to boost IT growth in areas outside Chennai by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure to tech companies. These parks reduce urban migration and help promote inclusive development.

Tiruvannamalai’s addition to the TIDEL map follows successful launches in Salem, Thanjavur, Thoothukudi, and Villupuram, all commissioned in the past year.

Strategic locations across Tamil Nadu

The government has already begun work on Mini TIDEL Parks in Karaikudi, Tiruppur, and Vellore, further strengthening Tamil Nadu’s position as a multi-nodal IT destination.

Each park is built with a modular structure that allows startups, MSMEs, and global IT firms to scale operations quickly.

Static GK fact: TIDEL Park is a joint venture between TIDCO and ELCOT, first established in Chennai in 2000, and was once India’s largest IT park.

Employment and local development

These IT hubs are expected to generate direct and indirect employment in regions where traditional industries have dominated for decades. They also serve as incubators for tech-based innovation at the grassroots level.

Static GK Tip: Tiruvannamalai is known for Arunachaleswarar Temple, one of the five Pancha Bhoota Sthalas representing fire, and now aims to become a digital beacon as well.

Alignment with Tamil Nadu’s Vision 2030

The Mini TIDEL initiative is part of the Tamil Nadu ICT Policy, which targets holistic IT penetration. By tapping into local talent and improving digital literacy, these parks align with the Vision 2030 roadmap for sustainable industrial growth.
