Mascot Jalveer and Logo Unveiled for 11th Asian Aquatics Championship: The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) together with the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) officially unveiled the mascot Jalveer and the logo for the 11th Asian Aquatics Championship, to be held in Ahmedabad from 28 September to 11 October 2025.
The announcement was made in New Delhi, at the residence of the Minister. Key SFI officials including Secretary General Monal Chokshi, Senior Vice-President Virendra Nanavati, and Vice-Presidents Anil Vyas, Rajkumar Gupta, Anil Khatri were present.
Significance of the event
This is the first time India will host the Asian Aquatics Championship.
The championship will be held at the newly built Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, which has been built to Olympic specifications.
More than 30 countries will participate, with over 1000 athletes, across multiple aquatic disciplines (Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Artistic Swimming).
Importantly, this Championship also serves as a qualifying event for the 2026 Asian Games.

The mascot named Jalveer signifies valor and connection to water (jal = water). It is intended to embody aquatic sports spirit and culture in India.
The logo blends sporting excellence with local identity. Key features:
- The Asiatic Lion, native to Gujarat, stylised in vibrant colours to showcase national pride.
- The lion’s mane integrates icons representing the aquatic disciplines: Swimming, Diving, Water-Polo, Artistic Swimming.
- Bold typography reflects the prestige and unity of Asia-wide competition.
Impact & Implications
Hosting this event helps India display its readiness in sports infrastructure (Olympic-standard complex), and its ability to organise large international aquatics events.
