Bihar Hosts KIYG for the First Time

Logo and Mascot Launched for Khelo India Youth Games 2025: Bihar is set to make history by hosting the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025 from May 4 to May 15. The games will be inaugurated in Patna by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This marks a proud moment for the state, bringing national sports attention to its cities and athletes. On April 14, 2025, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the logo, mascot, and theme song, symbolizing a big leap forward in Bihar’s sporting journey.

Cultural Identity Through Visual Design

The logo, painted in orange and green, reflects India’s vibrancy and cultural depth. It showcases iconic elements such as Nalanda University, the Mahabodhi Temple, and the peepal tree. These aren’t just decorative—they represent Bihar’s long-standing intellectual, spiritual, and ecological heritage. Including the Gangetic dolphin and sparrow emphasizes environmental conservation as a theme, aligning sports with sustainability.

Gajsingh: A Mascot of Strength

The mascot Gajsingh is a powerful blend of an elephant and a lion—rooted in the Pala-period temple art from Nalanda and Bodh Gaya. This mythical figure stands for wisdom, courage, and cultural pride. Gajsingh is meant to be a role model for young athletes—encouraging them to stay grounded, strong, and brave in competition and in life.

Games Across Districts

More than 8,500 athletes and 1,500 officials will compete across 28 disciplines, making KIYG 2025 one of the largest sporting events hosted in the region. Five districts—Patna, Rajgir, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai—will host the events. To energize local communities, a statewide torch relay, named “Gaurav Yatra”, will run from April 15 to May 2, covering all 38 districts of Bihar.

Theme Song and Spirit

The official theme song “Khel ke Rang, Bihar ke Sang” connects the youth with a sense of belonging and pride. It celebrates Bihar’s role in shaping India’s sports future and encourages young athletes to rise and shine. This catchy tune is already resonating in schools, sports camps, and public spaces.
