LIC Ranked as World’s 3rd Strongest Insurance Brand: Brand Finance 2025: The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has made the country proud by earning the third spot globally among the strongest insurance brands, according to the Brand Finance Insurance 100 Report 2025. LIC scored an impressive 88 out of 100 on the Brand Strength Index (BSI), placing it just behind Poland’s PZU (94.4) and China Life (93.5). This global recognition is a testament to LIC’s long-standing trust, wide customer base, and strong financial health.
Indian Insurers Gaining Global Visibility
Apart from brand strength, LIC was also ranked 12th in overall brand value—a notable feat for an Indian insurance provider. SBI Life joined LIC on the prestigious global list, ranking 76th, making them the only two Indian insurance brands to be featured. Their inclusion signals the increasing global relevance of India’s insurance market, particularly as emerging economies show rising demand for life and health protection.
Global Insurance Industry Shows Strong Growth
The 2025 report notes a 9% rise in combined brand value among the top 100 insurers worldwide. This surge is attributed to improved investment gains, higher interest rates, and economic stability post-COVID-19. Additionally, digital innovation, mergers and acquisitions, and stronger customer engagement strategies have helped insurers perform better. In this competitive field, brand strength and public trust are becoming critical success factors.
LIC’s Financial Wins Behind the Brand Success
LIC’s financial performance has played a major role in boosting its brand ranking. In Q3 of FY2025, LIC reported a standalone net profit of ₹11,056.47 crore, a 17% increase year-on-year. The consolidated profit touched ₹11,000 crore. Notably, LIC reduced its expense ratio to 12.97%, down from 15.28%—indicating greater operational efficiency. It also cut employee and welfare costs by 30%, which contributed to healthier margins and improved overall perception of LIC as a financially sound institution.
