Indigenous ADC-150 Strengthens Naval Air Delivery Capability: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy successfully tested the indigenous ADC-150 Air Droppable Container through multiple in-flight release trials. The tests were conducted between February 21 and March 1, 2026, off the coast of Goa using a P-8I maritime patrol aircraft.
These trials verified the container’s capability to deliver supplies safely during naval operations. The successful demonstrations represent an important milestone in strengthening India’s maritime logistical capabilities in distant sea zones.

Purpose of ADC-150 System
The ADC-150 is designed to transport payloads of up to 150 kilograms from aircraft directly to naval ships operating far away from land bases. The container can carry essential mission supplies such as spare parts, medical kits, emergency equipment, and operational stores.
This capability becomes critical during long-duration naval deployments where ships may require urgent support. Instead of returning to port, aircraft can quickly deliver supplies directly to vessels operating in the deep sea environment.

Trials Using P-8I Maritime Aircraft

The tests confirmed that the system could accurately deliver supplies to ships operating in “blue water” regions, meaning distant ocean areas beyond the immediate coastal zone.

The Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE) located in Agra developed the parachute system that ensures safe descent of the container. Meanwhile, the Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC) in Bengaluru provided flight clearance and certification.
The Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) in Hyderabad contributed instrumentation support during the flight trials.
