New era for AI in India
India’s First AI SEZ to Rise in Nava Raipur: India is stepping into a new chapter in the field of artificial intelligence with its first-ever AI-centric Special Economic Zone (SEZ). This ambitious project is set to come up in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and is being developed by RackBank Datacenters Pvt. Ltd., a company known for building carbon-neutral data centers. With an investment of ₹1,000 crore, this SEZ is not just about infrastructure—it’s about building the future of technology in India.
What makes this SEZ unique
Spread across 6 acres, the facility will have around 1.5 lakh sq. ft. of cutting-edge infrastructure. It is planned to house four high-performance data centers with a massive 80 MW capacity. These centers will enable powerful computing tasks, essential for AI model training and deployment. Major tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Meta, and OpenAI are expected to be part of this zone.
This will make India one of the few countries to have dedicated AI infrastructure, putting us on the global AI map.
Economic and employment boost
The SEZ will offer tax exemptions and policy benefits under the SEZ framework, creating a business-friendly environment for innovation. But beyond economic numbers, it holds real potential for local transformation. Young people from tribal and underdeveloped districts like Kanker, Sukma, Dantewada, and Bilaspur will get access to global job opportunities.
Instead of moving to cities like Bengaluru, youth can now find high-paying careers in AI, cybersecurity, and data engineering closer to home.
Skilling the future workforce
To support the AI ecosystem, the developers are tying up with engineering colleges, ITIs, and polytechnics. They aim to run customized training programs that match what the tech industry actually needs. This means more students learning real-world skills—not just theory.
Placing India in the global AI race
This move reflects India’s growing ambition to shift from being a consumer of AI services to a global supplier. While the world races to adopt AI, this SEZ gives India a launchpad to lead in AI research, applications, and exports.
