e-NAM Expands Digital Agriculture Trade Network: e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) is India’s premier digital trading platform for agricultural commodities, launched in 2016. The platform integrates multiple mandis across states, enabling farmers, traders, and buyers to transact transparently and efficiently.

On October 8, 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare announced the addition of 9 new commodities, bringing the total number of tradable items on e-NAM to 247. This move strengthens digital agri-trade access and supports fair pricing mechanisms.

The newly included items are:
- Green Tea
- Tea
- Aswagandha Dry Roots
- Mustard Oil
- Lavender Oil
- Mentha Oil
- Virgin Olive Oil
- Lavender Dried Flower
- Broken Rice

Role of DMI and Quality Parameters
The Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI), under the Ministry of Agriculture, framed standardized quality grades for these commodities. This ensures that prices reflect the actual quality of products.

- Consultations with state agencies, traders, and subject experts
- Oversight from Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC)
- Approval by Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan
These measures enhance transparency, provide fair pricing, and reduce the exploitation of farmers by intermediaries.
