Commemorating 56 Years of Industrial Protection
CISF Raising Day 2025: Saluting India’s Shield of Industrial Security: Every year on March 10, India observes CISF Raising Day to acknowledge the crucial role played by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in defending the nation’s key infrastructure. In 2025, the CISF celebrated its 56th foundation anniversary with a grand event in Thakkolam, Tamil Nadu. The celebration was led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accompanied by Dr. L. Murugan, and CISF Director General Rajvinder Singh Bhatti, highlighting the enduring national relevance of the force.
Establishment and Growth of CISF
The CISF was established on March 10, 1969, through the enactment of the CISF Act, 1968. What began as a small unit with only three battalions and around 2,800 personnel has grown into a massive force with nearly 1.88 lakh members today. Operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the CISF has adapted over time to safeguard not just industrial units but also public assets and national pride.
Guardians of Strategic and Public Installations
CISF personnel are deployed to protect over 350 essential sites, including airports, metros, power plants, space research centres, heritage monuments, and government offices. Their presence is also vital during major national events such as elections, global conferences like G20, and in times of emergency or natural disasters. The motto “Protection and Security” perfectly captures their objective—ensuring safety and stability across India’s industrial and civic landscape.
Celebrations that Honour Dedication and Discipline
The 2025 Raising Day featured parades, command drills, and demonstrations that showcased the CISF’s preparedness. Medals and honours were awarded to commendable personnel, celebrating their acts of bravery and dedication. The occasion also included cultural programs, health awareness camps, and blood donation drives, building community engagement. Training sessions and capacity-building workshops were part of the event to keep the force sharp and mission-ready for new challenges.
