Century of Glory India’s 100 Years of Hockey Excellence: India marked 100 years of hockey excellence with a grand celebration at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi on 7th November 2025. The centenary event honoured the sport’s journey from its colonial roots to becoming a symbol of national pride. Dignitaries including Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Kiren Rijiju, and Udhayanidhi Stalin joined hockey legends, Olympians, and hundreds of young players in the celebration.

A special commemorative volume titled “100 Years of Indian Hockey” was released, chronicling the nation’s sporting journey from the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics to the present day.
The book highlights India’s eight Olympic gold medals between 1928 and 1980 and its resurgence post-2009 under Hockey India, which professionalised the game and improved grassroots infrastructure.

The main event featured an exhibition match between the Union Ministers’ XI and a Hockey India Mixed XI (Men & Women), symbolising inclusivity, gender equality, and teamwork in modern sports culture.

A dedicated photo exhibition traced India’s hockey journey from the 1936 Berlin Olympics to the Tokyo 2020 bronze medal, marking the revival of India’s global standing. Visitors witnessed rare photographs, vintage hockey sticks, and team memorabilia, offering an immersive visual timeline of triumphs and challenges.
