Celebrating Assam’s Rising and Timeless Achievers: The Sons of the Soil Awards 2025 brought national attention to Assam’s talent, recognising individuals whose work reflects the state’s resilience and cultural pride. The ceremony was held in Guwahati, where Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal conferred the awards to emerging achievers, veteran contributors, and social impact leaders. The initiative, organised by Care Luit, highlighted people shaping Assam’s identity in diverse fields.
Emerging Achievers Shaping a New Assam
Five young individuals received the Emerging Achievers Award for excellence and innovation. Their work represents the progressive and aspirational face of Assam.
Sukrita Baruah was awarded for her contributions to Media and Communication, reflecting Assam’s evolving digital and journalistic landscape. Sanghamitra Kalita was recognised for her entrepreneurial leadership, bringing global exposure to Assamese enterprise.
In sports, Isharani Baruah stood out for her achievements and representation at major competitions. Himjyoti Talukdar was honoured for his influence in Art and Culture, reflecting Assam’s deep-rooted traditions. Dr. Debjani Borah received recognition for her dedication to Conservation, reinforcing the region’s environmental priorities.

Recognising Lifetime Contributions
The awards also honoured five distinguished personalities whose long-term contributions have shaped Assam’s cultural and institutional progress.
Veteran artist Arun Nath and media icon Ravi Shankar Ravi were celebrated for decades of work that strengthened Assam’s artistic and journalistic heritage. In sports, Mainuddin Ahmed was recognised for his sustained service and mentorship. Entrepreneur Lakhimi Baruah, founder of a landmark women-led banking initiative, received recognition for empowering communities. Simanta Das was honoured for his impactful role in Public Service.
