Bihar Mukhya Mantri Pratigya Scheme Empowers Youth with Internships: The Bihar government has launched the Mukhya Mantri Pratigya Scheme to address youth unemployment and build employability among students. Approved on July 2, 2025, in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, this initiative focuses on bridging the gap between education and work readiness.
The scheme specifically targets students aged 18 to 28 who have passed Class 12 or completed technical or skill-based education. These youths will now be supported with financial aid during their internship periods.
Eligibility and key benefits
Eligible participants include:
- Class 12 pass-outs
- ITI diploma holders
- Graduates and postgraduates
- Youths trained under government-approved skill development programmes
Depending on their qualification, participants will receive the following monthly stipend:
- ₹4,000 for Class 12 students
- ₹5,000 for ITI diploma holders
- ₹6,000 for graduates and postgraduates
Interns working outside their home districts will get an additional ₹2,000 per month. Those posted outside the state will receive an extra ₹5,000 for up to three months.
Seamless payment system
Payments will be made via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the beneficiaries’ accounts. To ensure smooth execution, a monitoring committee has been formed, headed by the Development Commissioner and supported by representatives from various industries.

Complementary schemes for cultural and social upliftment
Alongside the Pratigya Scheme, the Cabinet also passed the Mukhya Mantri Kalakar Pension Yojana to support traditional artists. Those with over 10 years of experience in folk or indigenous art will now receive ₹3,000 per month as a pension.
Another cultural initiative, the Mukhya Mantri Guru-Shishya Parampara Yojana, promotes endangered art forms by linking skilled gurus with interested youth apprentices.
Women and judicial reforms
The Cabinet approved amendments to the Bihar Factory Rules, 1950, allowing non-pregnant women to work in hazardous industrial zones under regulated conditions.

In terms of judicial welfare, new provisions now offer:
- ₹60,000/month for domestic help to retired Chief Justices

Healthcare provisions for Panchayat leaders
The Mukhya Mantri Chikitsa Sahayta Kosh has been expanded to include elected Panchayati Raj representatives. They can now access financial assistance for treatment of serious ailments, aligning with the state’s broader healthcare goals.
