Andhra Pradesh Assembly Introduces AI Attendance System: The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly introduced an AI-based digital attendance system for MLAs on February 14, 2026, marking a major administrative reform. The initiative was announced by Speaker Ch Ayyanna Patrudu during the commencement of the Budget Session 2026. The objective is to improve accountability, transparency, and efficiency in legislative proceedings.

The notification was issued by Legislature Secretary General Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara, confirming immediate implementation. The traditional system of signing physical attendance registers was discontinued. This marks a transition toward technology-driven governance in legislative institutions.

The policy aims to deny salary or allowances to legislators who fail to attend Assembly sessions.

The Speaker also suggested exploring a right to recall mechanism in extreme cases of non-performance. These measures reflect a broader effort to ensure accountability among elected representatives.
