During the visit, India and Angola formalized three important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to boost collaboration across key sectors.The first focuses on Ayurveda and traditional medicine, encouraging collaborative research, training, and exchange of expertise. The second MoU aims to boost cooperation in agriculture, emphasizing knowledge sharing and technology transfer. The third is a cultural cooperation programme (2025–2029) that will foster people-to-people exchange through events like exhibitions and festivals. These MoUs demonstrate the shared commitment to strengthening developmental and cultural ties.
Angola Officially Joins the International Solar Alliance as its 123rd Member
A key highlight of the visit was Angola officially joining the International Solar Alliance (ISA) as its 123rd member by signing the ISA Framework Agreement. Spearheaded by India, the International Solar Alliance (ISA) aims to fast-track the use of solar energy in nations situated between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. Angola’s membership underscores its dedication to climate action and reinforces India’s global leadership in promoting clean and sustainable energy solutions.
India Approves $200 Million Defence Line of Credit
During the visit, India sanctioned a Line of Credit worth $200 million to Angola for acquiring defence-related equipment and services, marking a significant step toward strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries. This initiative is in line with India’s “Make in India” push for defence exports and demonstrates enhanced trust in India-Angola strategic cooperation. Angola’s resource-rich economy and geopolitical importance further elevate its position in India’s broader Africa engagement strategy.
