IAF’s Role in INIOCHOS-25
Indian Air Force Joins INIOCHOS-25: Strengthening Global Air Force Synergy: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is actively participating in the INIOCHOS-25 multinational air exercise, held in Greece from March 31 to April 11, 2025. Hosted by the Hellenic Air Force, this high-intensity drill focuses on simulating modern air warfare scenarios, allowing air forces from across the globe to sharpen their tactical edge. The IAF’s involvement reflects India’s growing commitment to international defence cooperation and joint combat readiness.
Global Military Participation
INIOCHOS-25 brings together multiple countries and diverse aircraft platforms, promoting interoperability. The IAF has deployed Su-30 MKI fighter jets, IL-78 mid-air refuellers, and a C-17 Globemaster for strategic transport. Other countries like the USA, France, Israel, Italy, Spain, and the UAE have sent fighter aircraft including F-15s, F-16s, Tornados, and Mirage 2000s, making it a powerful display of multinational military collaboration.
Core Objectives and Tactical Drills
The core objective of INIOCHOS-25 is to train forces in high-intensity, multi-domain combat environments. Key operations include defensive and offensive counter-air missions, combat search and rescue, and protection of high-value airborne assets. By engaging in air-to-land and air-to-maritime missions, participants enhance their strategic capabilities. The exercise also encourages knowledge-sharing and tactical refinement based on real-world combat scenarios.
Strategic Coordination from Andravida
All operations are being executed from Andravida Air Base in western Greece, ensuring smooth coordination. The centralised command structure allows seamless integration of air assets, planning teams, and command protocols. This enables participating nations to rehearse joint operations with efficiency, setting the groundwork for future missions under allied frameworks.
