Major Approval

Tato II Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh: The Union Government has approved investment of over Rs 8,000 crore for the construction of the Tato-II Hydro-Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh. This project will be set up in the Shi Yomi district and is expected to be completed within 72 months. It will not only strengthen the state’s power supply but also contribute significantly to the national power grid.

Project Capacity

The project will have an installed capacity of 700 MW, divided into four units of 175 MW each. Once operational, it is expected to generate about 2,738 million units of electricity annually. The project will be executed as a joint venture between NEEPCO (North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd) and the Arunachal Pradesh Government.

Government Support

The project has a total cost of Rs 8,146.21 crore. This assistance ensures faster implementation and necessary infrastructure upgrades.

Power Allocation

As part of the agreement, 12% of the generated power will be given free to Arunachal Pradesh, while 1% will go to the Local Area Development Fund (LADF). This allocation will improve power availability in the state and help balance the national grid during peak demand hours.
