Virudhunagar Set to Emerge as a Premier Textile Manufacturing Hub: A major step has been taken by the Union Government to elevate India’s textile sector with the approval of a ₹1,900 crore investment for a PM MITRA Textile Park in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu. The facility will be developed over 1,052 acres, incorporating advanced and eco-friendly infrastructure to drive textile exports and innovation.

Advanced infrastructure and sustainable design

The upcoming park will be equipped with a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) effluent treatment plant with a 15 MLD capacity, aiming to minimize water pollution and promote resource reuse. A 10,000-capacity dormitory for labour accommodation and 1.3 million sq. ft. of industrial space will support a plug-and-play model for businesses.

AEPC and policy-level facilitation

The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) is actively engaged in implementing the project by attracting investors and promoting global awareness. The scheme promotes collaboration between the Centre and State, where land and essential services are provided by the State while the Central Government offers financial and policy support.
